Hi Lazeena,
Thank you for sending us your question.
Red Bull Energy Drink is a non-alcoholic beverage and is registered as a non-alcoholic beverage in all the countries where it is sold. But as most other beverages/soft drinks, Red Bull Energy Drink contains traces of alcohol coming from the flavors used. Red Bull contains less than 0.05 % alcohol.
If you're wondering for religious purposes, Red Bull Energy Drink is Halal. This has been certified by the MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL. Imaam Y. Harris, Cape Town. Before issuing this certificate, the production site and the origin of the ingredients were inspected and checked by an official of the Federation.
Also, Red Bull Energy Drink contains no animal by-products, so it is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. Its key ingredients include taurine, caffeine, glucuronolactone and B Vitamins - which all work together to vitalize the body and the mind.
Hope this answers your questions.
With soaring regards,
-"D"

ReplyDeleteDish soap is halal, does that mean it is halal to drink it?
Red Bull has no health benefits. Isn't a Muslim supposed to look after his/her health and not consume what is damaging to their body?
Cell phones have radiation that cause cancer dont use it its haram...

ReplyDeleteJazkallah for this information and wonderful site in general.
ReplyDeleteSalaams,
ReplyDeleteEven though redbull contains only 0.05%, is it still halal?
As far as I concerned, alcohol is still alcohol. And as we all know, alcohol is haram. So it's better not to drink it
ReplyDeleteYou are right that contain 0.05 alchoal or less but it does have right
DeleteRed bull is not halaal. Please read the following hadith. NABI SAW said, what ever intoxicated in its large quantities, in it's small quantities are haram. Your logic above displays biblical proportions of Ignorance.
Deleteis it halal or harm? if it's haram then how other islamic web site says it is halal?
ReplyDeleteIf it does indeed contain alcohol. No matter who certifies it, it is haram.

ReplyDeletered bull contains caffeine which is a central nervous system stimulant, temporarily warding off drowsiness and restoring alertness. University students drink a lot of it. Imo it is okay if you drink it in regulation right?
@anonymous
the perfume you use contains alcohol as well. alcohol vapours which you may breath in, causing it to circulate in your system. so i suppose that is haram too?
Allah knows best. Thank you for the information, may it be beneficial to all InsyaAllah
Anything that u use that has alcohol is haram. The is concession if there is a valid shariah need. I.e. medicine with ethanol becomes fine if there is no other alternative to the medicine.

ME: Hello Cassandra,
Thanks for the quick response, it's much appreciated. Can you confirm that the Red Bull representative was incorrect on this site:
http://isithalal.blogspot.ca/2011/03/red-bull.html
Specifically, I was hoping that you could confirm or deny the following statement:
"But as most other beverages/soft drinks, Red Bull Energy Drink contains traces of alcohol coming from the flavors used. Red Bull contains less than 0.05 % alcohol."
Thanks!

Dear Abbas,
Thank you for your renewed interest in Red Bull Energy Drink.
Please accept my apology for the delayed response to your 2nd email. I was waiting to hear back from Austrian Headquarters.
It has to be stressed again that Red Bull Energy Drink is a non alcoholic. There are not traces of alcohol in the flavor because we do not at a flavor component containing alcohol.
Unfortunately, I am not aware of the web site you linked in your email. The information posted is inaccurate.

Slm Abbas. Exercise caution. If the alcohol content in an item is below a figure as stipulated by government. They may advertise it as non alcoholic because its alcohol content is below government stipulated ceiling. The fact that mjc certifies products with alcohol is no secret. Go to the store and pick up a packet of flings. See who it is certified by and read the ingredients include alcohol as clear as day.
DeleteDont google the ingredients. Go to a store and pick up if you are in south africa.

ReplyDeleteIf it has alcohol of any quantity then yes. Ask ulema in ur region to visit their plant or investigate.
DeleteI never knew that Red Bull is Halal. Thanks for sharing such information. I visited this blog three days back for the first time, but now I'm a regular user. The blog provides a great information about all types of vegetarian and non-vegetarian halal foods.
ReplyDeleteExcue me how can it be halaah when it does contain 0.05 percent of alcohol. Will you plz clarfiy what's your definition of halaal?
ReplyDeletePlzz read the reply given to Abbas by Cassandra from Red Bull, Canada,
DeleteThere are traces of alcohol even in fruits or some breads because of natural fermentation.
DeleteAs far as I know, if the alcohol is below 0,05% it is ok.
If there are also no harms to health in short or long term, it should be halal.
But as I am not an Islamic scholar, this must be clarified by them!
If there is 0.05% urine in milk is it halal? No absolutely not.red bull contains alcohol and taurine extracted by bull semen not halal
DeleteDo u wana take on red bull. Its haram for u to make something haram when its halal
DeleteU cannot bring up the fact that you could find alcohol in fruits if tested. ALLAH has made all fruits. It is not a manufactured product that includes ethical in it. You logic is warped.
DeleteMaaf auto correct... all fruits HALAAL.... includes ethanol in it... your logic...

Dear muslim brothers n sisters, please bear in mind Allah says in the Holy Quran.. leave those things which create doubts..so dont worry.. i've got some info that taurine is extracted from semen of bull !! so its better to avoid than sorry. Wa ma alayna illal balagh.

ReplyDeleteThis is a TRUTH...I would like to share with you all... What Allah Subhanna
taala opened infront of me just by a small will....just by a small
curiosity.....to investigate the content /
ingredient of what we are DRINKING regularly....in the name of POWER, ENERGY,
HEALTH etc etc..... It was nothing but a mixture of HARAM things
together.... ' RedBull ' contains ' Taurine ' which is made from the
blood of several types of dead animals....specially OX (BULL), PIG, CAT & other
slaughtered animals. As a Muslim we know that.... To eat dead animals is
HARAM, To eat blood of any animal is also HARAM,To eat animals without
islamically slaughtered (zabiha/ zibah ) is also HARAM.The TAURINE is derived
from
The blood of dead animals, The meat of animals (most probably
islamically unslaughtered) The selected parts of some animals like kidneys,
prostates, thigh musclesetc of ox, pig, lamb, cat etc. IT IS HARAM,,,,,, IT IS
HARAM,,,, WHAT WE ARE DRINKING IN THE NAME OF ENERGY IS HARAM...........PLEASE
FIND THE DOCUMENT
ATTACHED GIVING THE DETAILS OF TAURINE, ITS EXTRACTION, ITS CHEMICAL
ANALYSIS, ITS VALUES, AND ALL OTHER THINGS RELATED TO TAURINE PRODUCTS. ( I
HAVE GOT IT FROM INTERNET ) PLEASE SEND IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND .....
MAKE THEM AWARE ,,,, TO INVESTIGATE THE CONTENTS OF ..... WHAT THEY
ARE EATING AND DRINKING FROM MARKET.... REMEMBER ,,,
BY EATING THE HARAM FOOD YOUR DUAS AND PRAYERS WILL NOT BE ANSWERED ,,,
AND THE BARAKA IN YOUR HOME AND EARNING WILL BE TAKEN OFF. THINK OF THOSE
WHO ARE IN HABIT OF TAKING A CAN OF SUCH DRINKS BEFORE GOING TO BED WITH
THEIR WIFE,,,, TO HAVE GOOD CHILD..... HOW IT CAN BE GOOD IF SUCH DIRTY AND
HARAM THINGS ARE PRESENT IN ITS BLOOD AND FLORISHING THE CHILD
(FOETUS) .PLEASE PASS IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND HERE ONWARDS TAKE CARE BEFORE
EATING ANYTHING,.....ITS EASY IF YOU HAVE INTERNET YOU CAN EASILY CHECK THE
CONTENTS AND ITS ACTUAL CONDITIONS BEFORE EATING THEM.
There is no relation between taurine and halal concept , alcohol and pork residues could cause considering food as non halal in Islam and non kosher in Jewish religion.
Arif Navee
It's Haraam to make something Haraam which is not Haraam
ReplyDeletebrothers and sisters im not geniues but if we go back to just the basics of what we ahve been thought in islam
ReplyDeleteany thing that has alcohol even if it is 0.00000000000001 percent
that product will be haram
put it this way we you new a meat product had 0.000001 pork in it will you buy it
As salaamu alaikum brothers and sisters,
ReplyDeleteI have read all the comments and can somebody tell me where it is written in the Quran that an Haram thing is halal?
This beverage contains 0.05 percent alcohol and it is said to be halal.
Even if something has a bit of haram in it would it not become completely haram and for muslims to avoid consuming?
If anyone knows let me know so I can start drinking it like the rest of the muslims that believe it to be halal.
Thanks
assalam alaikum ,
ReplyDeletedears all muslims, if something becomes controversial in islam it must be boycott to remove confusion, and also there are too much other soft, cold and energy drinks free of alcohol and taurine, that can be used .
thanks
What about taurine? The one of the major ingredient of redbull?
ReplyDeleteStrictly i cant be halal, since it is an unhealthy product, a product wich dan cause harm! Redbull is NOT suitable for vegetarians, since it contains taurine, wich comes from bulls. Get ur facts right!
ReplyDeletesalaam ! as a muslim you have to be sure about what you eat and drink becouse it can affect you heart امنً
ReplyDeleteBut the taurine obtain from blood of the animal & made up of tissues so the blood is haram for us .. & redbull contains taurine nor what would u say ??
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing this information,.

ReplyDeleteRedbull is totally haram because it contains bulls sperm.
ReplyDeletePlease read actual documented facts not what some idiot told you.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't contain bull sperm, bull urine or anything to do with bulls, taurine is called taurine cause it was first found on the HIDE of bulls, but it is not where it comes from. in our human bodys we have 70x more taurine naturally in our bodies then in one can of redbull, and taurine is found in all meats including chicken, cows and a lot of taurine in seafood.
The original post claimed 0.05% of alcohol due to most energy drinks and fizzy drinks flavors ferment and turns slightly into alcohol but redbull doesn't use these flavors. Therefore it is halal, has been certified by MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL which I am sure they know more about it and have done far more research then anyone else here.
PS: there is no conscious god anyway so taking in haram will only be harmful due to the harmfulness of what you take in, no extra punishment.
Listen to what you said at the end and you want to talk of halaal and its been certified? No ingredients on redbull. Let's put something to the test. I challenge all of you to go to the shop, pick up a packet of flings and see if its certified, by whom and what the ingredients say in plain and simple English.
