Red Bull

Interesting response

Hi Lazeena,

Thank you for sending us your question.

Red Bull Energy Drink is a non-alcoholic beverage and is registered as a non-alcoholic beverage in all the countries where it is sold. But as most other beverages/soft drinks, Red Bull Energy Drink contains traces of alcohol coming from the flavors used. Red Bull contains less than 0.05 % alcohol.

If you're wondering for religious purposes, Red Bull Energy Drink is Halal. This has been certified by the MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL. Imaam Y. Harris, Cape Town. Before issuing this certificate, the production site and the origin of the ingredients were inspected and checked by an official of the Federation.

Also, Red Bull Energy Drink contains no animal by-products, so it is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans. Its key ingredients include taurine, caffeine, glucuronolactone and B Vitamins - which all work together to vitalize the body and the mind.

Hope this answers your questions.

With soaring regards,

-"D"

Dish soap is halal, does that mean it is halal to drink it?

Red Bull has no health benefits. Isn't a Muslim supposed to look after his/her health and not consume what is damaging to their body?

    Dear Abbas,

Thank you for sending us your question.

It needs to be stressed that Red Bull Energy Drink is a non-alcoholic energy drink that has vitalizing impact on the body and mind.

Red Bull Energy Drink is halal. This has been certified by the MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL by Imaam Y. Harris, Cape Town. Before issuing this certificate the production site and the origin of the ingredients were inspected and check by an official of the Federation.

    ME: Hello Cassandra,

Thanks for the quick response, it's much appreciated. Can you confirm that the Red Bull representative was incorrect on this site:

    http://isithalal.blogspot.ca/2011/03/red-bull.html

Specifically, I was hoping that you could confirm or deny the following statement:

"But as most other beverages/soft drinks, Red Bull Energy Drink contains traces of alcohol coming from the flavors used. Red Bull contains less than 0.05 % alcohol."

    Thanks!

    Dear Abbas,

Thank you for your renewed interest in Red Bull Energy Drink.

Please accept my apology for the delayed response to your 2nd email. I was waiting to hear back from Austrian Headquarters.

It has to be stressed again that Red Bull Energy Drink is a non alcoholic. There are not traces of alcohol in the flavor because we do not at a flavor component containing alcohol.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of the web site you linked in your email. The information posted is inaccurate.

    1. Slm Abbas. Exercise caution. If the alcohol content in an item is below a figure as stipulated by government. They may advertise it as non alcoholic because its alcohol content is below government stipulated ceiling. The fact that mjc certifies products with alcohol is no secret. Go to the store and pick up a packet of flings. See who it is certified by and read the ingredients include alcohol as clear as day.

    2. There are traces of alcohol even in fruits or some breads because of natural fermentation.

As far as I know, if the alcohol is below 0,05% it is ok.

If there are also no harms to health in short or long term, it should be halal.

But as I am not an Islamic scholar, this must be clarified by them!

  24. Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahe wa Barakatuhu.
This is a TRUTH...I would like to share with you all... What Allah Subhanna
taala opened infront of me just by a small will....just by a small
    curiosity.....to investigate the content /
ingredient of what we are DRINKING regularly....in the name of POWER, ENERGY,
HEALTH etc etc..... It was nothing but a mixture of HARAM things
together.... ' RedBull ' contains ' Taurine ' which is made from the
blood of several types of dead animals....specially OX (BULL), PIG, CAT & other
slaughtered animals. As a Muslim we know that.... To eat dead animals is
HARAM, To eat blood of any animal is also HARAM,To eat animals without
islamically slaughtered (zabiha/ zibah ) is also HARAM.The TAURINE is derived
    from
The blood of dead animals, The meat of animals (most probably
islamically unslaughtered) The selected parts of some animals like kidneys,
prostates, thigh musclesetc of ox, pig, lamb, cat etc. IT IS HARAM,,,,,, IT IS
HARAM,,,, WHAT WE ARE DRINKING IN THE NAME OF ENERGY IS HARAM...........PLEASE
    FIND THE DOCUMENT
ATTACHED GIVING THE DETAILS OF TAURINE, ITS EXTRACTION, ITS CHEMICAL
ANALYSIS, ITS VALUES, AND ALL OTHER THINGS RELATED TO TAURINE PRODUCTS. ( I
HAVE GOT IT FROM INTERNET ) PLEASE SEND IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND .....
MAKE THEM AWARE ,,,, TO INVESTIGATE THE CONTENTS OF ..... WHAT THEY
ARE EATING AND DRINKING FROM MARKET.... REMEMBER ,,,
BY EATING THE HARAM FOOD YOUR DUAS AND PRAYERS WILL NOT BE ANSWERED ,,,
AND THE BARAKA IN YOUR HOME AND EARNING WILL BE TAKEN OFF. THINK OF THOSE
WHO ARE IN HABIT OF TAKING A CAN OF SUCH DRINKS BEFORE GOING TO BED WITH
THEIR WIFE,,,, TO HAVE GOOD CHILD..... HOW IT CAN BE GOOD IF SUCH DIRTY AND
HARAM THINGS ARE PRESENT IN ITS BLOOD AND FLORISHING THE CHILD
(FOETUS) .PLEASE PASS IT TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND HERE ONWARDS TAKE CARE BEFORE
EATING ANYTHING,.....ITS EASY IF YOU HAVE INTERNET YOU CAN EASILY CHECK THE
CONTENTS AND ITS ACTUAL CONDITIONS BEFORE EATING THEM.
There is no relation between taurine and halal concept , alcohol and pork residues could cause considering food as non halal in Islam and non kosher in Jewish religion.

  27. As salaamu alaikum brothers and sisters,

I have read all the comments and can somebody tell me where it is written in the Quran that an Haram thing is halal?
This beverage contains 0.05 percent alcohol and it is said to be halal.
Even if something has a bit of haram in it would it not become completely haram and for muslims to avoid consuming?
If anyone knows let me know so I can start drinking it like the rest of the muslims that believe it to be halal.

    Thanks

  28. assalam alaikum ,
dears all muslims, if something becomes controversial in islam it must be boycott to remove confusion, and also there are too much other soft, cold and energy drinks free of alcohol and taurine, that can be used .

  34. Redbull is totally haram because it contains bulls sperm.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Please read actual documented facts not what some idiot told you.

It doesn't contain bull sperm, bull urine or anything to do with bulls, taurine is called taurine cause it was first found on the HIDE of bulls, but it is not where it comes from. in our human bodys we have 70x more taurine naturally in our bodies then in one can of redbull, and taurine is found in all meats including chicken, cows and a lot of taurine in seafood.

The original post claimed 0.05% of alcohol due to most energy drinks and fizzy drinks flavors ferment and turns slightly into alcohol but redbull doesn't use these flavors. Therefore it is halal, has been certified by MUSLIM JUDICIAL COUNCIL which I am sure they know more about it and have done far more research then anyone else here.

PS: there is no conscious god anyway so taking in haram will only be harmful due to the harmfulness of what you take in, no extra punishment.

    1. Listen to what you said at the end and you want to talk of halaal and its been certified? No ingredients on redbull. Let's put something to the test. I challenge all of you to go to the shop, pick up a packet of flings and see if its certified, by whom and what the ingredients say in plain and simple English.
